Actually, I was just looking for a small, inexpensive wireless router or access point with a standard WLAN client function. As my eye fell on the Edimax BR-6226n of the can be bought at
Reichelt
for only 26,95 €. So I the same first 4 units ordered to try out.
First impression
cheap. The case is reminiscent of the new Fonera. Two non-replaceable antennas.
Small Stand for vertical operation during this period. Rear there is a WLAN switch and a sliding button for WPS and reset. As there are bushes next to the Wan port (no DSL modem) and other 4 LAN ports. For the small body not bad. It is supplied with a 12V 1A power supply. Energy efficient than the WRT54GL.

In the menu of course I immediately searched for the client mode.
Under "General Setup" Wan "Are there in addition to various other modes and the WISP Mode. This stands for Wireles Internet Service Provider. And the best is that it also works. Through a site survey all the available networks are displayed. In the password security still must be added. I have successfully tested the connection both with Fritzbox of WPA and WPA2 with a WRT. The real highlight is the two radio interfaces of this device seems to have. Many devices can run in Wireless Client mode to work but no longer as an access point. I have tentatively set up a new WLAN encryption using WPA on a different channel. Works!
long-term stability
Must be tested yet. The first Device I've tried was directly broken. Presumably, thermal problems. What surprises me even the ventilation slots (presumably for design reasons) under the device. Lack of an appropriate device, but the foot is almost flat on the belly and the vents are thus covered. While there is at mini-adhesive feet, which is tuned stick but probably not. On the sides there are very small ventilation holes.
Support
can forget the manufacturer Edimax. I had updated the firmware on the first device. No longer as a slow corporate servers seen. are the sources for the firmware is also there but thanks to the modest download rate It would take 6 hours with me this download.
802.11n
I Have not tested for lack of hardware. However, should one of the router as a client in a 7270 Fritzbox network. It is only the printer connected thereto.
Summary
A simple functional feasibility of equipment as the Internet if you get separated from their neighbors and will distribute in-house from the neighboring network.
